Gambia: Newly Discovered Provisional Issue

This is a newly discovered aerogramme of Gambia. In 2001, the postage rate for aerogrammes was increased from 1.50 D to 3.50 D. The regular aerogramme, NGK 20/II, in the top part of the picture, was used for a provisional issue (bottom part of the picture).

Interestingly, the paper of the provisional issue is quite different:

• paper is light greenish grey instead of light bluish grey
• watermark, see scan below. NGK 20/II is on unwatermarked paper.
